"Quality over quantity."
Early exposure to trauma therapy as a student
counselor, in KwaZulu Natal, allowed me to groom a tenacious
acumen in psychotherapy.
This practical and educational training easily
morphed into the beginning of training
to become a clinical psychologist
at The University of Johannesburg.
I thereafter took on practical's at the Helen Joseph Hospital Johannesburg and the Headway Brain Injury Association (Gauteng). After completing my coursework, I began a dynamic internship at the 1 Military Hospital (Pretoria) and took up community service at the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital.
My formal training and practical exposure prepared me for work in diverse multicultural settings. I have since enjoyed working at St Augustines College and the University of Johannesburg as a part-time lecturer; Beethoven Clinic (Hartbeespoort); Springs Gauteng (doing psycho-educational reports for mostly young children); Riverview Manor Specialist Clinic (Underberg); a boutique psychiatric clinic in Cape Town; and at my own private practice.
Having lived in 3 South African provinces and worked in 4, I
really enjoy doing clinical work with people of all ages
who present with different diagnoses.
